Snowfall Reported in Several Communities Across Armenia

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of January 24 at 14:45, there are closed and difficult-to-navigate public roads throughout Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed to trucks and difficult for passenger vehicles to navigate. The Sotk-Karvachar road is closed to trucks and difficult for other types of vehicles. There are instances of black ice on the roads in the Syunik region.

Snowfall has been recorded in the following areas: Syunik region, Ashtarak in the Aragatsotn region, Jermuk in Vayots Dzor, Chambarak in Gegharkunik, and in the town of Vardenis, as well as along the Sotk-Karvachar road.

According to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Emergency Management Department and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Crisis Management Center in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.
