Philippine President Cancels US Visit

The President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, has decided not to visit the United States in March and has initiated the process of terminating the simplified visa regime agreement for American military personnel. According to a report by Manila Bulletin on January 24, this decision was made by the head of state after Washington refused to issue a visa for Filipino politician Ronald dela Rosa.

“President Duterte has stated that he will not go. There are many reasons for this, one of them being the refusal to grant a visa to Senator Ronald dela Rosa,” quoted the president's press secretary, Salvador Panelo.
