29 Snow Clearing Machines Operate Across Yerevan
The Yerevan Municipality has reported that immediately after the snowfall began on the night of January 23-24, the city’s snow clearing equipment started treating the streets of the capital with salt and sand.
"All operations are coordinated by the mayor; all subdivisions understand their responsibilities, and the heads of administrative districts directly supervise the work in their areas. Everything is managed by the community organization. There is a clear division of responsibilities. Today, we mainly observed heavy snowfall in the northern zone," said Kamo Areyan, the mayor's advisor.
The entire fleet of the municipal organization for "Yerevan Waste Management and Sanitary Cleaning," which consists of 29 machines, has been working throughout the city. "We have a clear plan regarding the directions. The most important are the primary roads, after which we proceed to secondary and intra-yard streets. We are continuously monitoring the progress of the work through an online group. In the administrative district where a machine has finished its work, we redeploy it to another district to expedite the process. Major roads have already been completely cleared and are accessible for all vehicles," noted Armen Grigoryan, the director of the Yerevan Waste Management and Sanitary Cleaning organization.
To organize the snow clearing effectively, an agreement is in place with the "Yeregluyus" company, and the external lighting system remains activated until daylight. Early in the morning, efforts are also being made to remove icicles formed in bridge areas.
In addition to the municipal equipment, subcontractor companies have also participated in the snow clearing operations. The replenishment of necessary equipment within the community organization is ongoing. Companies and individuals operating within Armenia and abroad have also joined this effort. The Yerevan city authorities have adopted a principle to promote corporate social responsibility, which is an internationally accepted practice.
Once again, we urge drivers to travel exclusively with winter tires.
