Georgian Patriarch Ilia II Hospitalized
The Georgian Patriarch-Catholicos Ilia II has been transferred to one of the clinics in Batumi for a planned examination. This was reported by Rustavi2, as informed by Armenpress.
According to the Patriarch's personal doctor, Tsisana Shartava, the health condition of the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church has not deteriorated, and he was hospitalized at the request of the Patriarch himself and his close ones. “In fact, every February, after the holidays, we undergo planned examinations either in Georgia or abroad. We were supposed to conduct an examination after his arrival in Tbilisi. His relatives visited him there and suggested a good clinic in Batumi. That’s why the examinations are being carried out there,” Shartava stated.
On January 4, the head of the Georgian Orthodox Church celebrated his 87th birthday, reported Sputnik.
