Arthur Aleksanyan Defeats Azerbaijani Wrestler in Final
Rio 2016 Olympic gold medalist and triple world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Arthur Aleksanyan (97 kg), has emerged victorious at the Henri Deglane tournament held in Nice, France.
After securing three victories, the wrestler from Gyumri reached the final, where he secured a 3:1 win over Azerbaijani Orkhan Nuriyev.
This was Arthur Aleksanyan's first tournament since his injury sustained at the ranking world championship held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, in September of last year.
European Games silver medalist Karapet Chalyan (77 kg) lost in the final with a score of 2:5 to Kazakhstan's Demeu Zhadraev, earning a silver medal.
The Armenian team also featured Rudik Mkrtchyan (55 kg), Gevorg Haribyan (60 kg), Slavic Galstyan (67 kg), Robert Haribyan (82 kg), Maxim Manukyan (87 kg), Arthur Shahinyan (97 kg), and Davit Ovasapyan (130 kg) in the Grand Prix series tournament. Gevorg Haribyan, Ruben Haribyan, and Malkhas Amoyan lost in the semifinals, with Amoyan and Haribyan taking bronze medals.
