Fire Affects Novoye Vremya Newspaper Editorial Office, Operations Suspended
On January 18, at 11:47 AM, the 911 emergency call center received a report of a fire that broke out on the first floor of the Press House on Arshakunyats Avenue in Yerevan. The fire was contained at 1:41 PM and extinguished at 2:03 PM, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The fire response was classified as "1-BIS," and four firefighting units from the Yerevan City Rescue Department, along with an operational group from the department for organizing firefighting and rescue operations, were dispatched to the scene. Rescuers evacuated 50 citizens from the building.
In the elevator shaft area (located between the 1st and 8th floors), the insulation of electrical wires was burned. Additionally, one of the rooms on the first floor (covering 15 square meters) suffered damage to electrical meters and household items, while a door and ceiling in one of the rooms on the third floor were thermally damaged.
Ruben Satyan, the chief editor of Novoye Vremya, told NEWS.am that the editorial office, located on the third floor of the building, has suffered an estimated $5,000 to $6,000 in damages.
