Deputy Head of Community Surrenders Firearm to Martuni Police Department

The officers of the Martuni Police Department’s Criminal Investigation and Community Policing Division continue to carry out explanatory work among the population, encouraging citizens to voluntarily present any weapons and ammunition they possess to the police.

According to Shamshyan.com, thanks to the explanatory efforts conducted by Martuni police on January 17, another firearm was submitted to the Martuni Police Department. A resident of the village of Tzovinar, 49-year-old Gegham Gyurjoryan voluntarily surrendered a 7.62 mm caliber AKM type firearm, which had no factory serial number, along with its magazine. The magazine contained 57 rounds of 5.45 mm caliber ammunition.

Gyurjoryan informed the police that he discovered the items in the basement of his home while cleaning and that they belonged to his brother, Mamigon Gyurjoryan, who participated in the Artsakh Liberation War and passed away in 1994.

Materials are being prepared in connection with the incident at the investigative division of the Martuni Police Department. A forensic examination has been appointed.

According to sources, Gegham Gyurjoryan works as the deputy head of the Tzovinar community.
