VIDEO: Another Illegal Hydropower Plant Under Construction in Karvachar, Alexander Kananyan
Another illegal hydropower plant construction has begun in the city of Karvachar, Artsakh, reports political scientist Alexander Kananyan, who resides in Karvachar. He has posted videos on his Facebook page, alerting the public.
"On the eve of the New Year, another illegal hydropower plant construction has commenced in the area of Karvachar city. In addition to the 'announced' ongoing constructions around the thermal water resort village and the neighboring Tsar, there are extensive earthworks of a highly questionable nature taking place. Photos and videos are attached.
In Artsakh, as well as in other parts of Armenia, small hydropower construction has long become a widespread disaster. The main culprits of this disaster in Artsakh are the outgoing Bako Sahakyan and the irresponsible authorities in Yerevan, who are fervently striving for power alongside local oligarch Arayik Harutyunyan and his notorious criminal entourage. The situation is particularly dire in the regions of Karvachar and Kashatagh, where, if the current 'pace' of hydropower construction is tolerated, in two years the entire river network will be trapped in pipes. Significant portions of the watersheds of the Agavnoy, Hochants, Lev, and Tortuv (Tartar) rivers are completely drained, along with tributaries. However, despite everything, the anti-state activities of the internal criminal cadre will be countered at every appropriate cost," stated Kananyan.
