Arrests Made in Case of Ukrainian Airplane Downing in Iran

Arrests have been made in relation to the downing of a Ukrainian airplane in Iran. According to РИА Новости, this information was provided by the official representative of Iran's Supreme Court, Gholam Hossein Ismaili.

"We are currently in the initial phase of the investigation, but some individuals have already been arrested in this case," Ismaili stated. He added that "all aspects of the airplane's destruction will be examined." He noted that many people are involved in the investigation.

Recall that on the night of January 7-8, a Boeing 737-800 belonging to a Ukrainian airline crashed shortly after takeoff near Tehran's airport. All passengers and crew members on board, a total of 176 people, were killed. On the same night, Iran had launched missile attacks on an American military base located in Iraqi territory.

On January 11, Iran's Armed Forces General Staff admitted today that the Ukrainian Boeing downed near Tehran was shot down due to human error. The statement also mentioned that the aircraft was hit because it flew close to a military critical facility.
