Woman Hands Over Late Husband's Weapons to Police

As a result of the community police's explanatory work in Vagharshapat, two cases of voluntary surrender of illegally held weapons were recorded on January 10.

According to the Public Relations and Media Department of the RA Police, a 55-year-old woman from the village of Amberd voluntarily handed over a shortened shotgun, a grenade, a detonator, explosive material, and 46 bullets of various calibers, among other items. She stated that these items belonged to her late husband.

Additionally, a 56-year-old woman living in the village of Haytag also voluntarily surrendered a shortened shotgun, a detonator, explosive material, a grenade-like object, and 28 bullets of various calibers. She reported that these items too belonged to her late husband and that she found them while cleaning the roof of her garage.

On January 11, there were two more cases of voluntary surrender of illegal weapons recorded at the Vagharshapat division. Thanks to the explanatory work of criminal investigators, a 37-year-old man living in Ejmiadzin voluntarily handed over a Walter pistol. A 59-year-old woman from Ejmiadzin also voluntarily surrendered a Makarov pistol, loaded with a total of 15 bullets, as well as a TT-type pistol and 39 bullets. According to her, the illegal firearms belonged to her late father.

Due to the explanatory work of the criminal investigators of the Armavir division, a 48-year-old man from the village of Armavir voluntarily surrendered a Kalashnikov rifle and an empty magazine on January 10, stating that the firearm belonged to his late father.

On the same day, a 70-year-old man from the village of Mrghashat voluntarily handed over a TOZ-type shortened shotgun, explosive material, a detonator, and 25 bullets of various calibers. He mentioned that he found the weapons while cleaning his basement.

As a result of the explanatory work of the patrol officers of the Mush division in Gyumri, a 59-year-old woman voluntarily surrendered a homemade pistol on January 10, stating that it belonged to her late brother.

Thanks to the community police’s explanatory work in the Akhuryan division, a 56-year-old resident of the village of Bayandur voluntarily surrendered a factory-registered TOZ-type rifle designed for 5.6 caliber bullets on January 13, claiming he found it while cleaning his house's roof.

Expert forensic examinations have been appointed. It should be noted that those who voluntarily surrender illegally held weapons are exempt from criminal liability.
