Emergency Situation at Armavir Penitentiary

An incident occurred late last night at the Armavir Penitentiary, where incarcerated individuals displayed disobedience. They obstructed an unplanned search, struck the doors from neighboring cells, and assaulted the penitentiary staff, reports Tert.am.

The situation was tense for approximately 40 minutes. According to Tert.am, a staff member was assaulted, leading to a skirmish.

Nona Navikyan, head of the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service, stated that the situation is calm at the facility now. “An unplanned search was conducted, and a mobile phone was found in the possession of an inmate that violated internal regulations. The inmate inflicted self-harm and received immediate medical assistance on-site. The situation is calm now,” Navikyan said.
