Tragic Traffic Accident in Gegharkunik: 1 Dead and 5 Injured

On January 8, a major and tragic traffic accident occurred in Gegharkunik province. Around 16:30, vehicles ВАЗ 2107 and Opel Astra collided head-on on the 18 km section of the Sevan-Shorzha-Jambarak road. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.

As a result of the accident, the injured were transported to medical facilities, with 2 sent to Jambarak and 4 to Sevan medical centers. Citizens, including a group of young people from the city of Sevan, were the first to provide assistance to the injured, offering first aid until the arrival of medical professionals.

Traffic police arrived at the scene, and while the senior investigator worked on-site, a report was received from the Jambarak medical center that one of the injured had died without regaining consciousness.

A criminal case has been initiated under the second part of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code at the Sevan investigative department. The police and investigation department are working to identify the drivers, the deceased, and the injured.
