Man Suspected of Sexual Violence Against Minor Found Dead

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, on January 6, a report was received by the Kotayk Division of the Police from the "Abovyan" Medical Center, indicating that a medical emergency team had been dispatched to a house in the village of Dzoraghbyur, where they discovered a man's body.

Police have identified the deceased as 60-year-old Sagatel Sagatelyan, who was registered in the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan. A preliminary examination by the forensic expert did not reveal any signs of violence on the body. Investigative materials are being prepared by the Kotayk Division of the Police regarding this incident.

According to G. Shamshyan, Sagatel Sagatelyan was found dead by his 36-year-old son, Tigran Sagatelyan, who works as the deputy director of water facilities at the Yerevan municipality. Sagatel Sagatelyan had been on the wanted list since 2008 by the Arabkir Division of the Police due to charges under Articles 139 Part 2 Point 3 (sexual violence against a minor), 266 Part 1 (illegal production, processing, acquisition, possession, transportation, sale, or distribution of drugs or psychotropic substances), and 272 Part 2 Points 1 and 3 (coercion or involvement under the influence of drugs or psychotropic substances against a minor, and fraud).

According to G. Shamshyan, the mentioned criminal case was initiated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Vayots Dzor regional investigative office.
