Charges Filed Against Suspect Arrested for Killing 16-Year-Old Girl for Financial Motives
Rafael Sukiasyan has been charged under Article 104, Part 2, Point 8 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder committed for mercenary motives) for the killing of a 16-year-old girl. This was confirmed by Naira Harutyunyan, head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, in response to a question from HJ.
Harutyunyan stated that a motion to detain Sukiasyan has been submitted to the court. It is noted that the 16-year-old girl was murdered on January 5 at around 11:00 PM. According to the preliminary conclusion of the forensic expert, the girl died from asphyxiation.
According to the police, Sukiasyan was arrested the day after the murder on Abovyan Street, in the center of the city, where a search revealed the victim's tablet in his possession. He subsequently provided a self-incriminating testimony.
Rafael Sukiasyan was serving in the Ministry of Defense on a contractual basis. According to police reports, the 16-year-old girl was living in a rented apartment where the murder took place.
