Tragic Car Accident in Aragatson: Deceased is the Father of MP Sergey Movsisyan

On January 2nd, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Aragatson region. Around 23:15, 45-year-old Avetis Nikolyan, a resident of the village of Parpi in the Aragatson region, while driving his Mercedes vehicle with license plate number 36 O X 625 on the 30 km section of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway towards Parpi, left the road for an unknown reason, collided with an earthen mound, and rolled over several times for about 80 meters before landing in a field.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, a passenger in the vehicle, 66-year-old Levik Movsisyan, a resident of Parpi, sustained critical injuries and was promptly taken by paramedics from the Ashtarak hospital to the 'Ashtarak' medical center, and then to the 'Astghik' medical center, where he unfortunately passed away an hour later without regaining consciousness.

Emergency responders from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' Ashtarak firefighting and rescue unit swiftly arrived on the scene with one combat unit. The rescuers used special equipment to extract the driver's body from the vehicle.

Following the incident, a criminal case has been initiated based on the third part of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code as per the decision of S. Safaryan. According to G. Shamshyan's report, the deceased Levik Movsisyan was the father of Sergey Movsisyan, an MP from the 'Civil Contract' party and a member of the 'My Step' faction.
