Mysterious Incident: Fire Breaks Out in Car Owned by Head of Yerevan Investigative Department's Son

An extraordinary incident has occurred in Yerevan. The 911 operational management center received a call reporting that a Mercedes vehicle with license plate number 01 RF 101 was burning in the yard of a building on Aigedzor Street.

Photographer Gagik Shamshyan reports that a fire-rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene and, with the help of citizens, managed to extinguish the fire, which had ignited under unknown circumstances.

According to Shamshyan, the vehicle belongs to a 29-year-old resident of the same street, Raphael Farukhoyan, who is the son of John Farukhoyan, the head of the Investigative Department of Yerevan City’s Investigative Committee and a major general of justice.

In connection with the incident, materials are being prepared at the Arabkir division of the police’s investigative department, and an expertise has been commissioned to determine the cause of the fire in the vehicle. Whether the incident was a deliberate destruction of property or a fire caused by negligence will become clear after several investigations are conducted.
