22-year-old climbs a 270m high pipe and threatens to commit suicide at Hrazdan Power Plant

Last night, the duty officer of the 5th energy block of the Hrazdan Power Plant reported to the "911" service that one of the employees had climbed a pipe approximately 270 meters high and was unable to descend, requiring rescue assistance. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia.

A firefighting team from the special fire department of the Hrazdan Power Plant, as well as a combat unit from the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the special operations rescue team number 17 from the rescue forces administration were dispatched to the scene.

It was determined that Ashot G., an operator in the chemical production unit of the 5th energy block of the Hrazdan Power Plant (born in 1997), had ascended the flue gas duct (approximately 270m) and was threatening to commit suicide.

In challenging nighttime conditions and adverse weather, the rescue team successfully ascended and prevented Ashot G.'s suicide attempt by safely bringing him down from approximately 270 meters.

Also present at the scene were the head of the special operations unit of the rescue forces administration, Deputy Colonel Hayk Naghdyalyan, and the deputy head of the regional rescue department, the head of the crisis management center, Deputy Colonel Armen Gyurjinyan. The rescue operation was led by Deputy Colonel Hayk Naghdyalyan. Officers from the police and emergency medical services were also present at the scene.
