Shots Fired in Ashtarak Cemetery: 1 Dead and 1 Wounded
Today, on December 27, a mysterious incident occurred in the Aragatsotn region. Around 11:15 AM, the Ashtarak police department received a report that gunshots had been heard in the Ashtarak city cemetery along the Yerevan-Gyumri highway. This information was reported by Shamshyan.com.
Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 52-year-old Samvel Papyan, a resident of Linch Street in Ashtarak. Additionally, a 34-year-old man, Hakob Payamjyan, residing on Shiraz Street in Ashtarak, was transported to the Ashtarak Medical Center with a serious gunshot wound to the left distal femur and left proximal fibula.
Police and investigators at the scene also found a 12mm caliber hunting rifle of the TOZ-34 type, which had traces of blood on it. The deceased was known in Ashtarak by the nickname “Plotnik Hakob.” The wounded individual works as a dentist at Lili Dent LLC in Ashtarak. According to preliminary information, during a dispute over a financial issue, S. Papyan fired two shots at H. Payamjyan before taking his own life with the same weapon.
The scene also revealed a VAZ 2106 vehicle, license plate number 36 NF 942, belonging to the deceased. After receiving first aid at the Ashtarak Medical Center, the wounded individual was subsequently transferred to Erebuni Medical Center.
