NSS Reveals New Case of Misuse of Official Power
The National Security Service of Armenia, pursuing the unyielding implementation of its duties against crime, has uncovered a case of misuse of official powers by officials of the Gyumri Municipality in Shirak Province. This was reported by the NSS press service.
According to the conducted operational and investigative measures, it was determined that from 2006 to 2011, officials from the Gyumri Municipality, driven by personal interests, used their official positions to the detriment of the service’s interests, directly selling or auctioning off state or municipal property, prohibited from being transferred to citizens and legal entities under Article 60 of the Land Code of Armenia. This involved land plots for general use in several addresses within the city of Gyumri.
A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative department of the NSS under the appropriate articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia. An investigation is ongoing.
Note: The suspect in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia by a legally binding verdict from the court.
