VIDEO: Stepanavan Mayor Embezzles Assistance to Underprivileged Families, Police Reveal

The Corruption and Economic Crimes Prevention Department of the Police has gathered factual data based on operational information received, revealing that the mayor of Stepanavan, who serves as the chairman of the board of trustees of the 'Stepanavan' charitable foundation, has committed illegal acts.

It has been discovered that from 2013 to 2019, the 'Bavaria Region Red Cross' organization provided humanitarian assistance worth a total of over 316 thousand euros and 32 million drams to the mentioned charitable foundation for underprivileged families.

According to the obtained factual data, with the intent of embezzlement, the community leader created fictitious invoices and false acceptance reports under the guise of providing aid to the community's underprivileged families, misappropriating various items valued at over 89 million drams.

It has also been established that the Stepanavan mayor abused his official position by organizing formal auctions and committing forgery, transferring land plots belonging to the community to his son, causing significant damage to the legal interests of the community.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that the mayor, fully aware that a high-ranking official was constructing a private house on a plot belonging to his son without the necessary permits, did not halt the illegal construction. Instead, he prepared and provided official counterfeit documents, based on which the State Cadastre Committee's Stepanavan office registered property rights in 2015.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with these incidents, which has been sent to the Investigative Committee. The circumstances are under investigation.
