Drugs Discovered in Candy Boxes in Car Trunk

The State Revenue Committee (SRC) has reported that its anti-smuggling department, in collaboration with the Police of the Republic of Armenia, has thwarted another attempt to illegally import drugs.

According to the measures taken, the employees of the Anti-Smuggling Department conducted a customs inspection on a vehicle operated by Armenian citizen K.H. that arrived at the Bagratashen customs checkpoint from Georgia. During the inspection, 516 tablets of the drug type "Buprenorphine" marked "B8" were found among boxes of candy in the car trunk. The tablets were mixed with the confectioneries.

The materials compiled by the SRC's anti-smuggling department have been referred to the SRC's investigative division. A criminal case has been initiated. Citizen K.H. and the car passenger A.K. have been detained.

Note: The accused is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law, by a legally effective court verdict.
