Video: People Trampled in Sydney Shopping Center Over Gifts, Injuries Reported
Nearly 20 people were injured during a gift giveaway at a shopping center in Sydney, Australia, after a stampede broke out. This was reported by the 9News television channel.
The incident occurred on the night of December 24 at the Westfield Parramatta shopping center. The chaos began when balloons filled with gift cards and other presents started to descend from the ceiling of the building.
According to ABC News, several hundred people had gathered for the event. As the giveaway commenced, individuals rushed for the gifts, causing a stampede that left many on the ground.
Due to the injuries sustained, five people were transported to the hospital, while an additional 12 received assistance at the scene.
