At around 08:30, the Kapan police department received a call from 27-year-old Armen Gasparyan, a resident of Kapan, who reported that on the same day, between 00:10 and 07:00, an unknown individual or individuals broke the window grate at his office located at 4 Gortsaranayin Street, entered the premises, and committed theft.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the thief or thieves cut the door of a fireproof metal safe located on the second floor with a cutting tool and stole approximately $50,000, 2 million drams, and gold and silver valuables.
Additionally, the criminals took the office's surveillance recording device with them. It was reported that victim A. Gasparyan informed the police and investigators that he works as the director of “Armen” LLC.
