Photos: Sewage Floods Homes in Yerevan's Silikian District
For several days now, residents of 9th street in the Silikian district of Yerevan's Ajapnyak administrative area have found themselves in a desperate situation, reports Shamshyan.com.
“For three days there has been a terrible stench on this street. Sewage is overflowing from the manhole and flooding the entire street. We reached out to the head of the communal department of the Ajapnyak municipality, but he responds that it is not our issue, we have nothing to do with it, and blames 'Veolia Water'. We don’t know who to turn to. Perhaps we should appeal to Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan to give a nudge to the head of Ajapnyak municipality to take action,” a resident said in an interview with the photojournalist.
“Who has seen in the 21st century a municipal employee saying they have nothing to do? What is your job then, just sitting in the office? If you think that sitting in the office will solve the issue, then previous administrations were also good at just sitting around,” they added.
