Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a condolence telegram to the relatives of former Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov, describing Luzhkov as a bright and bold political figure. This was reported by the Kremlin's press service, according to РИА Новости.

“Yury Mikhailovich Luzhkov was a vivid personality, an energetic and courageous leader, a sincere and cheerful person,” said Putin.

Moscow city hall spokesperson Gulnara Penkova announced that former mayor Yury Luzhkov will be buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery. By the order of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, a government commission has been established to organize Luzhkov's funeral.
