Bribery: Acting Director of Arpi Lake National Park Has Been Charged
The Shirak Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee continues its investigation into the alleged abuses committed by the acting director of the Arpi Lake National Park. Charges have been brought against the acting director.
During the investigation, various circumstances of the abuses committed by the acting director have been revealed. It was previously reported that the acting director requested and received bribes from residents of surrounding villages to allow haymaking on a land plot not stipulated in the contract.
Specifically, the acting director, who has held the position since November 2019, has demanded and received bribes of various amounts in exchange for his explicit inaction regarding agricultural work, that is, without signing a legally stipulated contract for the use of hayfields, enabling the illegal mowing of the hayfield, and failing to prevent these actions.
Based on the sufficient evidence gathered, charges have been filed against the acting director under Part 2 of Article 311 (7 episodes), Part 3 of Article 311 (2 episodes), and Parts 2 and 3 of Part 3, as well as Part 4, Point 2 of Article 311 of the RA Criminal Code. As a measure of restraint, detention has been selected for him.
The investigation is ongoing.
Note: A suspect in a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty.
