The Bill for the Implementation of a Point System Passed
The National Assembly of Armenia has fully adopted the bill on the implementation of a point system for traffic regulation in the second reading.
According to "Armenpress," the package of legislative amendments titled "On Amendments and Additions to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Armenia" was developed by the Armenian government.
The package proposes to grant a total of 9 points to individuals authorized to drive vehicles for one year from the date of obtaining their driver's license. In case of a violation, points corresponding to the administrative offense will automatically be deducted from the total points awarded that year according to the relevant article of the code.
Out of 100 traffic violation categories, points are foreseen for 20 of them.
The bill was adopted with 57 votes in favor, 35 against, and 3 abstentions. The law will come into effect six months after its official publication.
The official publication date is considered the day of the first publication of the complete text in the "Official Bulletin of the Republic of Armenia."
