Ruling Party MPs Voted Against the Bill Due to Government Pressure, Marukyan

The Parliament today did not approve the proposal from the ‘Bright Armenia’ faction regarding equivalent compensation for soldiers with third-degree disabilities. Edmond Marukyan, the head of that faction, commented on the matter.

“The ‘Bright Armenia’ faction introduced a bill proposing to provide compensation to soldiers who received third-degree disabilities during combat operations. The draft law was thoroughly discussed with representatives from the Government, the Central Bank, and the Soldiers’ Insurance Fund. Almost none of the arguments we presented were countered, resulting in the parliamentary defense and security committee giving a positive conclusion to the bill. However, despite this positive conclusion, ruling party MPs voted against this important bill due to government pressure. P.S. I would like to thank our colleagues in the parliamentary defense and security committee for their engaged discussion and positive conclusion,” Marukyan wrote on his Facebook page.
