Prime Minister Discusses Charges Against Serzh Sargsyan
During an expert discussion on the topic of "Combating Corruption for the Purpose of Sustainable Development," Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the charges brought against Serzh Sargsyan and the criticisms regarding why he is being charged for a relatively small amount.
"I was surprised by some reactions, saying it's absurd that Serzh Sargsyan is facing charges for 400 million drams. I understand there are people in Armenia who perceive the fight against corruption as if it's based on concert-viewer requests, where the Government submits a request saying, 'Please initiate a criminal case against Serzh Sargsyan for 400 million drams,' and from that logic arises the question of why I ordered a case for 400 million drams rather than for 4 billion dollars. In my opinion, this perception of the fight against corruption and the corrupt thinking behind it are interconnected," said Nikol Pashinyan.
