Elections: The Only Candidate for Community Leader Loses to Himself

An independent observer reports that in the Tlik community of the Aragatsotn province, the incumbent village head and the only candidate for community leader (the other candidate had withdrawn) lost with 9 votes in favor and 13 votes against. Last time, the candidate held the position of community leader with 14 votes.

In the 2018 National Assembly elections, only 18 voters participated in the community, while the community leader elections attracted over 20% higher participation from the residents of Tlik.

It is worth noting that today, local self-government elections are being held in 16 communities of the Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, and Shirak provinces, of which 12 are regular elections and 4 are extraordinary.
