Deputy Minister Denies Charges Against Him: Defense
The Deputy Minister of Sports at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Gevorg Loretsyan, denies the charges brought against him. This was stated by his lawyer, Levon Sahakyan, in an interview with 'Haykakan Zhamanak'. It is noted that Loretsyan is accused of receiving bribes in particularly large amounts.
'My client does not accept the guilt, disagrees with the charges, relies on the justice of the Republic of Armenia, and hopes that his good name will be restored as a result of an objective investigation,' the lawyer said during the interview.
Recently, the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan accepted the petition of the investigative body and placed Gevorg Loretsyan under arrest for two months. In response to a media inquiry, the defense lawyer stated that this court decision will be appealed to the Court of Appeals. 'I simply urge everyone to respect the principle of presumption of innocence,' Levon Sahakyan added.
When asked whether they had presented a parole request during the discussion of the arrest petition, the lawyer confirmed positively but did not specify the amount concerning the parole.
