Local Government Elections Today in 16 Communities Across 7 Regions

Today, on December 8, local self-government elections are being held in 16 communities across the regions of Aragatsotn, Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, and Shirak. Out of these, 12 communities are holding regular elections, while 4 are conducting extraordinary elections. In the 12 specified communities, elections for the community leader are taking place, and in 4 communities, members of the council are being elected.

This morning at 8:00 AM, all 19 polling stations that were established for the elections opened in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia and welcomed the first voters. During the local government elections, 36 technical devices are being used for the electronic registration of voters.

The number of participants in the voting will be published three times a day, starting from 12:00 PM, on the official website of the Central Electoral Commission.

In today’s regular elections, community leaders will be elected in Zarinja, Tlik, Kosh, and Hako communities of Aragatsotn region, as well as in Alashkert, Ferik, and Norapat communities of Armavir region, Zovaber community in Gegharkunik, and in the Antramut community of Lori, while community council members will be elected in Voghjaberd community of Kotayk, Ddmashen in Gegharkunik, and Anushavan community in Shirak.

Extraordinary elections today will take place in the communities of Avan (community leader) in Aragatsotn, Taperavan (community leader) in Ararat, Norashen (council member), and Tziatsan (council member).
