Khajakyan Compared Yerevan's New Year Expenses Plan to New Year 'Budi'

“Our vote or the funding provided by the Government is similar to families that face household problems but take out loans to ensure a New Year’s celebration,” said David Khajakyan, the leader of the 'Lus' faction, during a special council meeting discussing the allocation of 320 million drams for New Year’s events in Yerevan. He emphasized that it is perplexing to discuss such large expenditures while claiming that private resources need to be attracted to solve household and utility issues.

Khajakyan also announced that the 'Lus' faction would abstain from voting on the proposal rather than vote against it. “It is clear that it is impossible to oppose opulent celebrations, as we have families that take out loans or pay in installments to afford a New Year’s celebration, while many of their household problems remain unresolved,” concluded Khajakyan.
