I Feel Great Shame: Merkel
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has admitted that she feels shame for the crimes committed by fascists. She made this statement at a museum built on the site of a former concentration camp in Auschwitz.
“It is not easy to stand here as Chancellor and make a speech. I feel great shame considering the brutal crimes that were committed here by Germans,” Merkel stated.
According to Merkel, Auschwitz is a place that symbolizes one of the greatest atrocities committed against humanity. “We must remember the crimes that were committed here,” she added.
