How many heads does the Special Investigative Service have that it won’t allow Serzh Sargsyan to temporarily leave the country? Ashotyan

We were planning Serzh Sargsyan’s foreign visits to a number of capitals with a clear national, state, and political agenda. I believe the authorities were well aware of this, and considering the turmoil the ruling political and propaganda system fell into following our visit to Zagreb and the criminal case initiated after the president’s speech, we also see an attempt to prevent the president's foreign political activities.

This was stated by the Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan, during a meeting with journalists, emphasizing that he confirms the information that the criminal case initiated against Serzh Sargsyan and the charges brought against him were also aimed at preventing his foreign political activities.

Ashotyan noted that Sargsyan's passport remains with him, but he has signed a declaration not to leave the country and has no opportunity to cross the border. “The good news is that this will not affect our political activities and plans at all. We will continue to prepare the president's visits to various capitals next year. The agenda is solely based on national and state interests. Let’s see how many heads the Special Investigative Service has if it does not allow Serzh Sargsyan to temporarily leave the country and return. I want to see how many heads this government has that would not allow Serzh Sargsyan and the Republican Party delegation to temporarily leave the country and come back,” he stated.

Referring to the negotiation process, Ashotyan pointed out that the twists and turns of the Pashinyan-Mnatsakanyan duo over the past year and a half regarding the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue ended with them grabbing the negotiation package developed by the Sargsyan-Nalbandian duo as a lifeline to avoid an impending crisis and catastrophe.

If we consider Zohrab Mnatsakanyan’s recent speech in Bratislava, apart from the idea of being acceptable to the three nations, there was an impression that Edward Nalbandian was speaking. What was the need to waste a year and a half, to undermine the negotiation positions, to become arrogant, to say that I know everything, I am starting the negotiation process from my own points, and in the end come and grab a part of the political legacy left by Serzh Sargsyan as a lifeline?” he remarked.
