2 Million Dram for Defamation: Sedrak Kocharyan vs. Ara Papyan

The court presided over by Gor Torosyan has rejected the petition for precautionary measures in the case of 'Sedrak Kocharyan vs. political scientist Ara Papyan.' According to reports available in the media, the lawsuit filed by the second President of Armenia, Sedrak Kocharyan, concerns Papyan's assertion in the media that during Kocharyan's tenure, Armenia's economy developed by 8 times, whereas it could have developed by 18-20 times if not for the pressures on entrepreneurs.

Kocharyan considers as defamatory the remark made by Papyan in one of the interviews, which states that many businesses in the mobile phone import sector were subjected to pressure during Kocharyan's administration, as Sedrak Kocharyan managed the mobile phone import sector.

Kocharyan demands a public retraction and 2,000,000 dram in damages.
