Who is the President of the Football Club Arrested with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science?

The founder and president of the "Lokomotiv" football club, Hratch Kananyan, may find himself behind bars.

On December 4th, it became known that the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia had detained Gevorg Loretsyan, the deputy minister of education, science, culture, and sports, his driver, and the president of one of the football clubs, who, according to our information, is Hratch Kananyan, the founding president of "Lokomotiv" FC. They have been arrested, and all three hold the status of suspects.

Kananyan re-established the "Lokomotiv" football club in 2018, and the team immediately faced serious challenges. "Lokomotiv" set its sights on competing in the top league. After the end of the previous season, "Lokomotiv" had chances of moving up to the top league, but did not receive a license from the relevant division of the Football Federation of Armenia due to several discrepancies and thus did not earn the right to play in the top league this year.

In addition to being the owner of "Lokomotiv" FC, Kananyan is also the director of "Elite Sport" LLC, which supplied sports equipment and apparel to sports educational institutions, collaborating with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia. Kananyan's company has represented sports brands such as "Jivova," "Kelme," and "Asics" in Armenia.
