Mamedyarov Evaluates Negotiations with Zohrab Mnatsakanyan as 'Serious and Heavy'
The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mamedyarov, has described the negotiations with Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in Bratislava regarding the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as 'serious and heavy.'
'Yesterday, we conducted negotiations lasting 3.5 hours with my Armenian counterpart. I can say that they were serious and heavy negotiations. Unfortunately, we still have unresolved issues,' he stated during the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Bratislava.
Mamedyarov noted that during the meeting, which was also attended by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, they discussed the sequence and phases of steps toward resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He emphasized that Azerbaijan’s stance on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue has not changed.
'Of course, the first step must be the elimination of the main consequences of the conflict, which is linked to the complete, urgent, and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Nagorno-Karabakh and other 'occupied' territories, as stated in the relevant UN resolutions. This will create a good opportunity for the second step, which is to proceed to the determination of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh,' he said.
