It Is Very Difficult to Judge a Person in a Bribery Case If You Haven't Caught Them in the Act: Marukyan on Loretsyan's Arrest

“It is very difficult to judge a person in a bribery case if you haven't caught them in the act,” said Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the ‘Bright Armenia’ parliamentary faction, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, referencing the arrest of the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports on suspicion of receiving a particularly large bribe.

“The Bible has a good saying: it says there will be temptation, but woe to him through whom it comes. People are always susceptible to temptations; I’m not just saying in this case but in general,” emphasized Edmon Marukyan and added, “What, did you think that after the revolution all people coming to power are holy? No, they can also be tempted, which is why we are that attentive. When we say there is a problem, it seems that something has been asked and given in return for services, and we are asking that there be no temptations.”
