Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Release Joint Statement
At the conclusion of the OSCE Ministerial Conference in Bratislava, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to mediating the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The co-chairs positively assessed the relative calm along the line of contact and the international border.
The statement welcomed specific steps aimed at reducing tensions and preparing the populations of both countries for peace. Additionally, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs commended the efforts of both countries to conduct humanitarian measures while highlighting the recent exchanges of visits by journalists and the concurrent release of detainees on June 28.
They reiterated that the conflict cannot have a military solution and called on both parties to engage in substantive negotiations without artificial delays or preconditions.
