BHK Deputy on Charges Against Serzh Sargsyan
In a conversation with reporters, Gevorg Petrosyan, a deputy from the Prosperous Armenia faction, addressed the charges brought against Serzh Sargsyan, stating that he cannot express a clear position until he is fully informed about the details.
Responding to the remark that Sargsyan recently made harsh statements against the government, and whether this could be an attempt to silence him, Petrosyan said, “The government’s actions and what it should do should be questioned by the authorities. I do not know how much they owe Serzh Sargsyan for their current position of power and what obligations they have towards him. Ultimately, one thing is clear: power was transferred without bloodshed, which is why it is called a Velvet Revolution. Sargsyan's speech included harsh statements, which could not have been pleasant for our government. However, I cannot make such a responsible claim that the initiation of criminal proceedings against Serzh Sargsyan is solely politically motivated. It cannot be ruled out, but to make such a claim, one must be well-informed, and I do not have such information.”
