Now We're Cutting Off the Paws One by One: The Mayor Was Right, Says Prime Minister on Investment News

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the well-known topic of sheikhs during the Q&A session in the National Assembly and reiterated what Mayor Hayk Marutyan had said on air yesterday.

“I am not so sure that they were representatives of sheikhs; if they were, there would be no need for G. Tsarukyan to call me and ask me to call the mayor to mediate for them to be received. If they had been representatives of sheikhs, they could have approached us through the embassy. Yes, G. Tsarukyan called and said they were major investors; I called the mayor, and he accepted them. It was strange that they came to the reception in jeans, sneakers, and T-shirts. They said they wanted land in the center for business, and the mayor told them, unfortunately, there is no land in the areas you mentioned under our control; maybe the private sector has some.

During the conversation, they received calls, the discussion was interrupted, and it continued like that until the mayor said, ‘I think this is not interesting for you, because you constantly talk.’ I think the mayor acted correctly. If there have been mayors, ministers, and village heads who had such relationships, that time has long passed. As for investments, when the BHK faction began to complain about the investment environment, it coincided with the time that charges were brought against the head of 'Multi Group' for very large abuses within the framework of the North-South project. Whoever has reached has grabbed that project and is milking it like a dairy cow. Now we are cutting off the paws one by one and will continue to do so. No one should think that they can cling to the flag of the Republic of Armenia, to the state, to its sovereignty with their dirty paws. We will cut off everyone's paws,” the prime minister stated.
