Measure Yourselves a Bit: Naira Zohrabyan and Alen Simonyan Quarreled
The National Assembly session continues under a tense atmosphere: members of the "Prosperous Armenia" and "My Step" factions continue to exchange mutual accusations. This time, a dispute erupted between Deputy Speaker Alen Simonyan and Prosperous Armenia MP Naira Zohrabyan.
Simonyan did not like Zohrabyan's speech, in which she stated, “It is disgusting, simply abhorrent, as someone with 12 years in parliament, I can say that the parliament has never been a platform for such low-grade, cheap debates. It is simply uncomfortable. I understand that manipulation is your main tool, but you do not have the right to insult Mr. Tsarukyan. If you did not understand his interview, look for the problem within yourselves. Your beloved mayor, who has not fulfilled any of his electoral promises, does not understand, and his abilities are insufficient; his place is in the theater, his place is with Garnik and the Azizyan family. Now what should we do? That man has failed to create favorable conditions for potential investments to come to Armenia. Mr. Tsarukyan spoke about this.”
Zohrabyan also noted that although the Prosperous Armenia party is constantly accused of being in coalitions, had Prosperous Armenia not been in parliament, then at least the Prime Minister would not have been elected through legal means. “And it is unknown where you would be and where you would end up.”
In response, Alen Simonyan replied, “How many heads were there that they did not elect a Prime Minister?”
“What should they have done, if they were not there, they would not have been elected? How many heads were there?” Zohrabyan said.
Simonyan responded again, “Like that.”
“Measure yourselves a bit,” Zohrabyan responded from her seat. Seeing that the MPs were not stopping, the Chairman of the National Assembly Ara Ararat Mirzoyan intervened, noting that everyone has the right to express their opinion, whether in opposition or in power.
