It Would Be Good If Hayk Marutyan Organized a Meeting with Journalists: Iveta Tonoyan

During a conversation with journalists today, Iveta Tonoyan, a deputy from the Prosperous Armenia Party, expressed her desire for Hayk Marutyan to organize a public meeting with representatives of the media instead of leaving this function to his press secretary.

“In all possible or impossible cases, the responsibility for denying any statement made by Hayk Marutyan falls to his press secretary, with exceptions only made for certain media outlets by the mayor,” she stated.

Referring to comments made by Mayor Hayk Marutyan in an interview with Public Television, Tonoyan remarked that Mr. Tsarukyan has all the necessary grounds and arguments before raising any issues or concerns.

“First of all, it should be noted that Mr. Tsarukyan did not address the construction being carried out by the Multi Group concern at all in his interview. Instead of discussing any targeted or substantive questions, the mayor has adopted a policy of diverting attention away from important topics by raising various subjects,” she said.

As for the construction taking place on Abovyan Street, Tonoyan noted that today, Tsarukyan stated that on April 18, 2019, Mayor Hayk Marutyan personally signed the relevant documentation for the design of that building, which was followed by the issuance of a construction permit.

When asked who issued the construction permit, Iveta Tonoyan responded that she does not possess technical details but added that a document is required for the construction permit.

“For all technical details, inquiries can be directed to the Multi Group concern, which is responsible for the execution of the construction, which has been suspended by a court order for a long time due to issues with a neighboring developer,” she explained.

In response to the mayor's statement that two floors of the building were constructed without a construction permit, Iveta Tonoyan replied, “I repeat that the design permit issued by Marutyan also implies the construction permit. Initially, permission was granted for the construction of an 11-story hotel. For the remaining questions, please contact the architects or the concern, but I exclude the possibility that any illegal process could have occurred,” she added.
