Have You Seized the Podium? Ararat Mirzoyan to MP

Today, during a session of the National Assembly, a heated exchange unfolded between Gagik Tsarukyan's MP Tigran Urikhanyan and the Speaker of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan following Urikhanyan's speech. As the MP criticized the mayor, the bell indicating the end of the speech time rang several times.

“Have you seized the podium? The call is sounded to consider the time limit,” said Mirzoyan.

Responding to Urikhanyan's criticisms regarding the performance of Yerevan's mayor, Mirzoyan remarked, “I don’t understand, is your imagined mayor going to meetings, while the counterpart is constantly speaking on the phone, then leaves, and comes back again?”

Urikhanyan retorted that it is his right to speak from the podium about issues that concern him. “This is my right as well; I am exercising my right,” replied Mirzoyan.

It is worth noting that yesterday, Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of BHK, announced that the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the owner of the Rotana hotel chain left a meeting with the Yerevan mayor disappointed after half an hour. Yesterday, touching upon the subject, Mayor Hayk Marutyan mentioned that the visitors had arrived in sports attire and were constantly answering phone calls during the meeting.
