Georg Kostanyan to be Detained

The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction in the Shengavit district is reviewing the Special Investigative Service’s request for the detention of former Chief Prosecutor Georg Kostanyan.

Kostanyan's lawyer, Hambardzum Melik-Sargsyan, stated in a conversation with reporters that the court has granted the request for Kostanyan's detention made by investigator Hrach Musheghyan from the SIS.

The lawyer mentioned that they will promptly file an appellate complaint.

It is noteworthy that on November 28, a search notice was issued for Kostanyan, as he has been involved as a defendant in the “March 1” case. The former prosecutor is conducting lectures on a contractual basis at the Moscow State University of Law in the Russian Federation.
