Baku Has Already Given Its Approval to the Russian Plan for Armenian-Azerbaijani Reconciliation

During the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Baku, the proposed Russian program for 'small steps' towards reconciliation between Armenia and Azerbaijan was particularly discussed. This was reported by the newspaper 'Kommersant'.

“During negotiations with Ilham Aliyev and Elmar Mammadyarov, he specifically discussed the humanitarian aspect of the 'small steps' program proposed by Russia, aimed at the rapprochement of the parties. A part of this program has already been implemented; in November, for the first time in many years, mutual visits of journalists took place,” the newspaper wrote.

According to the publication, it is also planned to organize reciprocal visits of public and cultural figures as well as parliamentarians. The exchange of prisoners of war was also discussed. Baku has already given its approval to these programs, the publication reports.

As previously reported, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stated that Azerbaijan and Russia are preparing to sign a new agreement on arms procurement.
