This is Absurd: Tsarukyan on the Bill for Early Retirement of Constitutional Court Members

The Prosperous Armenia Party (BAP) is set to vote against the bill proposed by the Ministry of Justice regarding the early retirement of Constitutional Court members. This statement was made by the leader of the BAP faction, Gagik Tsarukyan, during a conversation with reporters in the National Assembly.

He noted that BAP MP Gevorg Petrosyan has already presented their position in detail, highlighting the issue that if the Constitutional Court members are not acting fairly, why should they be sent to retirement and receive salaries.

“The main issue is that if they cannot actually blame them for misconduct, injustice, or stagnation, they are suggesting that we will pay you money so that you can benefit from it without working. Who would listen to that, it’s absurd! If a person has committed a crime today, let it be addressed; that’s not acceptable in the world. Why should we encourage them to go home, sit there, and also receive a pension,” Tsarukyan stated.

Responding to the comment that the bill is trying to resolve the crisis surrounding the Constitutional Court, Tsarukyan questioned, “What crisis? Let them show that there is a crisis, we will agree, but there is no such thing; receiving both a pension and salary without working, we will not support that, and the one who proposes it should consider that they will be held accountable.”
