I'm Speaking Factually, Not Flatteringly: Gagik Tsarukyan on Sukiasyan's Statement
“I’m speaking factually, documentarily, not flatteringly, I want to praise,” said Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, referring to businessman Khachatur Sukiasyan’s statement that the eradication of corruption is already an economic revolution.
It should be noted that Sukiasyan mentioned that he does not share Tsarukyan’s view.
“I have my own opinion; Mr. Tsarukyan has his opinion. If Mr. Tsarukyan says there are problems, they should be dealt with so that these problems no longer exist. I need to know which sectors of the economy he is referring to. If it’s about changing the category of land, that’s already a different institution,” he said in a conversation with journalists.
Tsarukyan added that the capital expenditures outlined in the budget are not being executed. “In this year's budget, there was $400 million earmarked for capital expenditures that should have been invested to develop sectors and achieve a 5-10% growth. Instead, the money is left in the bank at interest rates. They are borrowing loans from abroad while the money that should be used for development is sitting in the bank. If there are no capital expenditures, how can there be an economic revolution?”
Tsarukyan also spoke about the draft law regarding sending constitutional court judges into early retirement. “If a person can’t be charged with injustice for their actions and instead is offered money to benefit from that without working, that’s absurd. If a person doesn’t match the job requirements, they should be dismissed, not offered to retire. Such proposals are not accepted in the world; this is unacceptable,” said the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party.
