Dignity and Honor of Anna Danibekyan Disparaged, Criminal Case Sent to Court

The Prosecutor General's Office reports that the preliminary investigation into the criminal case regarding the disparagement of the dignity and honor of Judge A. Danibekyan, as well as obstruction of justice, has been completed by the Investigative Division of the Shengavit Administrative District of the RA Investigative Committee.

As a result of investigative actions carried out during the pre-trial proceedings, a number of circumstances regarding the case have been established. Specifically, a young man born in 1993, along with a friend born in 1991, attempted to influence the fair decision-making of Judge A. Danibekyan in connection with a specific criminal case through planned actions aimed at disparaging the judge's honor and dignity.

According to the investigation, the young men, having learned that Judge A. Danibekyan was attending classes at the RA Justice Academy, went to the Justice Academy on September 27, 2019, around 16:50, intending to confront the judge after the classes, record the meeting, and disseminate it online in a format titled “Let’s Try to Help Themis.” However, Judge Danibekyan managed to evade them by exiting from the back entrance of the academy and leaving the scene.

Later that same day, around 20:30, continuing their intention, they once again pursued Judge Danibekyan in a park adjacent to the Komitas Pantheon on Arshakunyats Avenue in Yerevan, engaging in acts that dishonored and disparaged the judge by asking questions related to the ongoing criminal case involving Robert Kocharyan and others, accompanied by derogatory remarks.

Based on a combination of sufficient evidence obtained during the pre-trial proceedings, the two young men have been charged under the first part of Article 332 of the RA Criminal Code. Their detention was chosen as a preventive measure. Notification of the completion of the pre-trial investigation has been announced, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
